Aviation accounts for 1.9% of emissions. Those emissions are split 19% freight travel, and 81% passenger. Although short range electric aircraft are starting to become a reality, long range flights are still the domain of fossil fuels.

Fortunately, there exists a solution to mostly eliminate aviation emissions: Sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF. It is a kind of aviation fuel that is certified to be either made from crops that meet certain land and water use requirements, or directly from CO2 pulled out of the atmosphere.
